Inspired by our founding investor Yara, which was born to address a looming food crisis more than 100 years ago, we strive for a future in which humanity has achieved a deep transformation in the way it feeds itself.

Varda has multiple meanings

Varda is a common woman’s name in Arabic, Urdu and Hindi, meaning “flower, fresh, rose and glowing”.

Similar to “Verda”, a women’s given name of spanish and latin origin, meaning “green”, and drawing the connection to a greener, more nature-positive food system.

Also related to verdad, vero and verdade, meaning “truth” in latin languages, Varda speaks to our desire to advance nature-positive farming by enabling a more transparent field-to-consumer supply chain.

In Icelandic, “Varda” is the term used to define “cairns”
